Abstract of thesis: Investigated the multi-scale structure of air transportation networks and developed a model of the evolution and development of multi-airport systems based on a multiple case study analysis of 59 multi-airport systems in 26 countries worldwide. This study was used to provide recommendations on future airport development strategies and management policies in the United States and the rest of the World.
