Air Passenger Duty makes passengers cross borders for an affordable flight. Nevertheless it seems that it is here to stay.

As long as the European Commission does not introduce taxes on a European level, a great deal of profit is made by the Netherlands. Not just because the Netherlands abolished the Air Passenger Tax, but also because the Dutch airports will have gained a prominent place in the mental map of foreign passengers for many years to come. |
