The economic impact of Schiphol airport in the region is substantial according to the study of Regioplan for the Municipality of Amsterdam and the Chamber of Commerce. Schiphol is an important contributor for the position of the Netherlands as a logistic and economic centre. Schiphol contributes to the growth of employment en production in the region, in particular with respect to services and transport. As a hub-airport, Schiphol contributes to the attractiveness as a location of European headquarters and distribution centres. A further expansion of Schiphol will have a net postive welfare effect.
