Strategies of multi-hub airlines
The configuration, dynamics and growth patterns of airline networks are among the most important uncertainties in airport planning and policy-making in deregulated markets. Due to airline consolidation through mergers and alliances, many networks of hub-carriers are now configured as networks with multiple hubs. In the hierarchy of these networks, hubs play different roles.
-How do multi-hub networks develop over time?
-What are the main drivers behind multi-hub development and the role of airports within these networks?
-What are multi-hub networks for consumers, governments, airports and other stakeholders in the industry?
-Which options exist for policy-makers to facilitate or influence multi-hubbing?
