7th European Aviation Conference - European Deregulation at 30

Aviation experts of all kinds meet next month at Dublin City University in Ireland to discuss important issues facing European aviation.The theme of the 2017 conference is prompted by this year being the 30th anniversary of the earliest steps towards aviation liberalisation in Europe (the 1987 first ‘aviation package’). This year’s conference will seek to use the lessons of the last three decades of reform to propose an agenda for the future, facing new challenges like the rise of protectionism after Brexit and Trump and new technologies disrupting the development of the industry.

Keynote speaker Prof. Nawal Taneja of MIT and Ohio State Uiversity will lead off with a review of the disruptive impacts of deregulation policy, and a review of the challenges facing airports as governments change aviation policy.

A panel featuring Ken Button (George Washington), Rigas Doganis (Cranfield) and Filip Cornelis (EC DG MOVE) will look for the lessons from three decades of reform, and look to outline the future path of deregulation.
